Arm Yourselves

The spiritual nature of the church and our calling. The Lord’s plans are independent of us, He doesn’t need us rather He enlists certain people to join Him. This should free us and humble us. Our spiritual weapons: 1 Peter 4:1 says, Since Christ suffered in the body arm yourselves (this is the spiritual weapons) with the same attitude. 1 Peter 2:21, To this you were called because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in His steps. Philippians 1:29, It has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him but also to suffer for Him. If we do not arm ourselves with the mind of Christ, a wilingness to suffer regardless of the obedience He calls us to, then we are not qualified to serve the Lord. Hebrews 5:8, Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. Philippians 2:8, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death. Hebrews 12:2, For the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross. Matthew 16:21, From that time on Jesus began to explain to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes and be killed and the third day to rise. Mark 9:12, Jesus responded, Elijah does come first to restore all things yet why do the Scriptures say that the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected? Matthew 26:39, Going a little further, Jesus fell with His face to the ground and prayed, My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. YET NOT AS I WILL, but as You will. We are commanded that our attitude toward suffering should be the same as Christ, Jesus chose to suffer if that was the Father’s will for Him. Hebrews 12:2, Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the Pioneer and Perfecter of our faith. Jesus pioneered Christianity. He perfected it, He’s the model. 2 Cor. 13:4, Although He was crucified in weakness, He now lives by the power of God. We too, are weak just as Christ was but when we deal with you we will be alive with Him and will have God’s power. Satan tempts us to avoid suffering. Whether or not you have food, nonetheless you obey, whether you are clothed or not you continue to serve, whether you have comfort or distress, money or poverty, good report or bad report, good health or ill health, as a soldier of Christ you have one thing on your mind: JESUS who enlisted you into combat for Him. Without an attitude that is ready to suffer we will never reach India, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, China, Afghanistan, Lithuania, Canada etc. Only with men and women who look into the face of death and suffering and say, Where is your sting? Philippians 3:10, I want to know Christ, His power of resurrection and share the fellowship of his sufferings. I want to die like Him that I may also gain the resurrection from the dead.
